I have the impression that some speakers do make a difference,
although the difference between [v_0] and [f] is small.
But maybe there are speakers who pronounce |v| and |f| alike, and any
perceived difference in their speech is probably "wishful hearing"
on my part?
Between |s| and |z|, it's the same thing, I suppose.
