Hey all,
For a very interesting essay about enneagrams, check out:
http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~tchou/Theory20.htm
Thomas Chou has an interesting interpretation of the enneagram that could
fairly easily be related to Jungian / MB typology (Big5 is harder)- but it has a
view of social orientation which is more sophistocated than the basic
introverted / extroverted distinction (at least the one you get from a cursory
study of the MBTI), as well as a discussion of the deep motivations
underlying each type. I also understand that there's a connection (if loose)
between enneagrams and Sufi psychology. The Sufi's are very cool -
definitely in the top 5 group of people in history for their understanding of
human nature.....
Speaking of that... how many conlangers also have a freakish interest in
philosophy, religion, & mysticism? Call it an informal survey of a group with
an uncharacteristically high proportion of introverted intuitive types...
I wonder what kind of language would develop if we had a truly solid picture of
human behavior.... Would even need language? (LOL)
