Hi, Gary!
Feel lucky for your country and your grand daughter,
because here in Brazil our schools are so bad that our
students don't learn even portuguese properly... we
have some students that are so poor, that go to school
just for the lunch. That is, if the school HAVE the
lunch. It's note uncommon, 'cause the lunch's money is
frequently stolen by some politics. The only chance to
have a a decent education is to be rich, lucky, or to
have a strong will. Being a little off-topic, I see
some young americans complaing about their country...
They don't know nothing. They don't know what is to be
 really poor, to be starving, etc, etc... Don't
complain about your contry (you're nothing doing this
Gary, I know), it could be worse, it could be Brazil.
Anyway, here in Brazil we can't choose, there is only
English and Spanish, since 11 years old (here is
sétima série) until 17.
