I've had some fun with names in a couple of my conlangs:

With names it almost seems like there are too many possibilities;
I don't know where to stop/start.  Also, the thing that's toughest
for me is trying to get at something that seems realistic to me.
Most of the time the names end up meaning something, but in
the America I know, most names don't mean anything--or they
no longer mean anything (or their etymology has been lost, so
it's no longer in the current realm of experience).  For example,
my name I guess means "beloved" in Hebrew (maybe), but it
certainly doesn't mean something the way "Esperanza" means
something in Spanish--or "Esmerelda", for that matter, or "Jewel",
in English.  I don't even think much about King David, which
apparently was the inspiration (though I'm thinking more
about him recently, since I'm reading _God Knows_ by Joseph
Heller.  Mildly amusing).  I guess what I'm saying is I'm finding
it difficult to come up with names that don't mean nothing.
