But, hey guys! We all _know_ that the question to be put
to another intelligent species is not whether or not
they have language, but whether or not they have,
among themselves, _conlangers_! ;-)

Re: aquatic technology; I seem to recall that dolphins
(and maybe certain whales) blow bubbles, which they
use as "nets" or "corrals" to herd together schools
of fish in order to facilitate feeding on them.
(It may not be metal, but it gets the job done for them.)
