"Bequeath" is lagali, from laga 'leave behind' and ali- 'give'. It wasn't
calqued (that would have been too difficult) but the idea of leaving
something for those who come after, and with whom you have some connection,
is central to the Auleri culture, since a central tenet of their beliefs is
a variant of the doctrine or reincarnation.

My garden awaits me too. Trouble is, it's about 1/4 acre and overgrown with
weeds.

And I wasn't thinking 'prescriptive' - in my idiolect you wouldn't dream of
saying 'more than I' - but I see what you mean!
