And here it is in Rinya:
Rinya naeg in rymum besenya.
Um mhythi iðin in rawðenya ðeich itirenya.
Ti deg ci ghoeruwu le,
hyem yagen rimando taninando.
rinya naeg in rym -um bes -enya
language:ABS ford.ABS DEF water-INS time-DAT
'Language is a ford through the water of time'
um mhyth-i ið -in in rawð -enya deich itir -enya
2PL:ABS lead -PRS 3SG-ERG DEF dwelling-DAT father:PL before-DAT
'It leads us to the fathers of before'
ti deg ci ghoer-u -wu le
but there NEG come -FUT-AP 3IMP:ABS
'But he will not come there'
hyem yagen rim -ando tanin-ando
REL:ABS afraid water-ABL deep -ABL
'who is afraid of deep water'
AP = Antipassive
REL = Relative particle
3IMP = 3p impersonal pronoun
ABL = Ablative
I use the antipassive in the third line to change the argument
of 'come' into the absolutive, because 'come' usually takes an
ergative subject, but 'afraid' has to have a head in the absolutive.
