Odd. (Lucida Sans Unicode isn't monospace, btw; Lucida Console is the
monospace one).

That could be part of the problem. Unicode support in Windows 9x is
not well integrated into the OS; it's something of an afterthought
add-on, whereas In Windows NT, 2000, and XP, all text processing
is done in Unicode internally. So I'd expect some quirks in 98.
Unfortunately all the Windows systems I use are 2000 or XP, so I
won't be much help tracking this one down. For what it's worth,
though, here's my experience:
On my XP box, immediately after installing Everson Mono Terminal, it
showed up as a "plain text" font choice inside IE 6, with no further
action taken on my part. The actual font installation was
done by Kermit-95's installer wizard, and I can't be sure it didn't
do something special to register the font as plaintext with IE,
but I don't see anything in the Registry which obviously constitutes
such.
