That's because IE assumes you want "plain text" (which is the MIME
type text/plain, which SHOULD be what all email messages are, and
this is fundamentally an email list! :) displayed in a monospace
(fixed-width) font, so it only displays the monospace fonts
in that list. I'm guessing your three choices are Courier New,
Lucida Console, and MS Mincho. Of those, Lucida Console has the most
Unicode glyphs, while Mincho has good CJK support.
However, what you should really do is go get and
install a good monospace Unicode font; there are several available
which have been mentioned recently on this list. I personally use
Everson Mono Terminal, which comes with Kermit-95 - a commercial product,
but you can download a free trial and the font is yours to keep, just
like those football phones of yesteryear. :)
