It is 'diphtongue' in French though, I believe. Of course for everyone's
sake it ought to be spelled with both <ph> and <th> as half the people say
/dIftAN/, the other half say /dIpTAN/, and the third half say /dIfTAN/.
(subst /O/ for /A/ as per your idiolect)
