South West England. Site of a thermal spring, believed by the ancient
Britons to be sacred to the goddess Sul or Sulis, identified by the Romans
with Minerva. The Romans, being fond of hot water, built a spa town there,
which they called Aquae Sulis, and which the Saxons, getting right to the
point, renamed Bath.
