That would be great and logical. But we all know languages and people aren't always like that.
For the conlangs:
Well, my cats seem to consider Europe as a continent for historical and cultural reasons only,
because "their people tend to behave if they were the centre of the world" (as Nianga,
a sharp-tongued writer
said in her overview of 'the Folks of Earth')
They named their continents after the quarters. (North-earth for Asia, West-earth
for America, South-Earth for Africa and
East-earth for Australia) [The order is that, because they originally lived in North
Africa and Floating India]
An informal word 'Middle-earth' also exist for Europe, but it is definitely
evolved lately, after man
appeared. And it stayed rather slangy.
