This makes sense. Consider the origins of our term
"Fascist". The Mussolini gov't used it of themselves.
They wanted to bring back the former glory of the
ancient Romans. This is evidenced in the
etymology--"fascist" from "fascii"--a sheaf of wheat
used as a symbol of the Roman people (IIRC).
