But that would be inaccurate. By the scientific definition of the word, it is
a theory. There's also virtual consensus among the people who study the
subject that it's the correct answer.

I'm curious how linguists would feel if biologists said that existance of
the Indo-European family doesn't have enough proofs, and should be called
"a wide-spread hypothesis".
