Re: Lahabic Syntax

Hi... I'm new to this list, as I just found out about it, despite being a
Brown student (on a year off, but still...). I've been on
langmaker2@egroups.com for a few months though, and I have a language with a
few hundred words and a grammar that's almost complete enough to use except
for comparative things (this one more/better/etc. than that one),
some/any/every-, and measurements (volume, temperature, distance, etc.). I'm
working on putting it on the web; once I manage I'll let everyone know, but
don't hold your collective breath or anything.

Aside from needing to fix those few things, I'm sure there's more holes....
and I've noticed that translating really does help, from having tried to
translate the Babel Text (which I'm very close, in fact, to completing).
So....what are these "lexis"? Is there a list of them someplace? I've got a
handful of phrases to translate for langmaker2's sigquote translation
collections, and the Babel Text, but having a list to work on would be
helpful too. My grammar's not terribly complicated, except for having a
couple dozen (sort of) noun endings that cover everything from prepositional
phrases to -ly adverbs with single nouns, with a loose SOV word order (verb
final, nouns are free with the first emphasized, default to "agent" [not
quite subject but the closest equivalent] first), and I've got subordinate
clauses in at this point, so I'd love a way to find the smaller holes now
that I've got the basic system worked out.

Thanks!

Emily
