We just had a thread on the Great War a while back. Did you catch it?

It's mostly a continuation of the Amazing Neverending Eurowar (whose previous chapter was the Franco-Prussian War). Germany never had a Weimar Republic (as I understand it); and it didn't really lose the Great War (it was something of a stalemate) so there was no Versailles, no Nazi Third Reich, etc. Similarly, the Second War was no more than a continuation of the Great War. I'm not exactly sure what ended this war, but Germany had the Bomb, and apparently used it.

Ah, now! Don't let that fool you... Germany is one country; there are two monetary unions within the country, based on old "zones" where certain monetary denominations were common. The situation comes from the time when each state issued its own money, and relative value and denomination varied from one location to the next. Germany *there* had its own monetary convention which came up with the two zone scheme they've got. Each zone is a sort of "average" of local denominations. Same goes with Italy, by the way.
