Oooo! Ooooo! I think you forgot about focus! :) (correct me if I am wrong)
Anyway, in the Austronesian languages (At least the Philippines ones),
different affixes (which are then conjugated according to aspect) are used
to indicate who/what the action of the verb is focused on (naturally :)).
In Tagalog at least, there's:
- actor focus
- object focus
- instrumental focus (action was completed by something)
- locative focus (the action takes place somewhere)
- beneficiary (is done on behalf or for someones benefit)
- happens on or to something (as in "it was written on the book")
- causal (action caused by something)
- state (indicates the satate of something (as in "she is standing there"
)
I think there's more but thats the main ones i could remember.
I might have confused one or two with my other conlang, Magandang Kadomo
because it too uses a focus system (and is based off of Tagalog for the
vocabulary at least), but I added a few more focuses than Tagalog has.
