Well, I think the point was that Hebrew is a bad counterexample to the
"swooshes" argument, because the vowels are not necessary to distinguish
words.  Therefore the vowel points are hardly ever used, almost never in
handwriting, and so they aren't subject to the "swooshifiying" process.

I further infer that the underlying objection to the use of Hebraic
vowel points in Choton is this: the distinction between the vowel points
in Hebrew is held to be too subtle for use in the orthography of a
language where changing a vowel can change the entire meaning of the
word, rather than just its morphological category.

Note that this is not *my* objection; I have no horse in this race.
I am just attempting to clarify the opposing position for Mr. Kramm.  :)
