We Dutchies call them "rotonde" and they go counter-clockwise because
we drive on the right (as, I suspect, is the cause of the
counter-clockwiseness in the USA and the clockwiseness in the UK).
All you have to do is to make a wide left turn followed by a sharp
right turn, whether you want to turn right or go straight on or turn
left. It's best if the rotonde has a cycle-path, because in that case
nobody can touch a cyclist once he's on (and it's very easy to get
on; all the cyclist has to watch is the other cyclists). Very good if
you have to negotiate busy crossings with children.
