http://r0ry.co.uk/zbbgroup.php proves that it's not
completely as anonymous as it seems, escpecially not for our
British members, who meet quite regularly I think. As for
age, I think the average should be 16 over there. That's of
course a lot younger than here. As for internationality,
there is certainly an awareness of that. Sure the biggest
part of the ZBB consists of Americans (generic term), but
there also a lot of British people, quite a few Swedes, some
Australians/New Zealanders, some Finns, some French and a
couple of Germans ... the most exotic places (I'd say) we
have each a member from are Iceland and Java. Also AFAICT
many of the regulars keep contact among themselves with
IMing, IRC, Skype and the like outside of the board, too.
So in conclusion I think it's really just a different style
of communication, but not inferior to mailinglists. Besides,
who says one can't sign up here with a pseudonym or a random
nickname as well? In fact, people have done that in the
past.
