Why is it that Americans (and non-English speakers who've learnt American
English) call mobile phones 'cell phones'? What's the 'cell' in question?
Also, would someone do the honor of explaining John's .sig to me?
I now resign to bed; rule no. 1 of eighteenths* is don't post to email lists
afterwards...
*Note: in Australia, given that at 18 you can buy alcohol (buy sigs, not that
I would ever engage in smoking. Crap, now Michelle can buy her own
cigarettes...), get your licence and vote, 18-y.o. parties are Big Things and
*definitely* involve drinking, especially if you've already turned 18.
Which, as always brings me to a tangent. Talking to my friends, who know more
about these things than I do... in the US, it's a crime for someone under age
to be in possession of alcohol *at all*, isn't it? not just to buy the stuff
like in Oz? If the police decided to turn up to a party and there were people
beneath the age of 21 drinking, would people get in trouble?
