1. That last message was intended as gentle ribbing, but rereading it,
it comes off harsher than that.  My apologies.

2. This thread reminds me of a story I read recently of a man who
trained himself to have an absolute direction sense.  He wore,
constantly., a belt of GPS-enabled cellphones, programmed such that
the one closest to facing North would vibrate every time he turned.
After only a few weeks he had developed an uncanny natural feel for
cardinal directions (without the belt).
