Possible indeed. A report I had seen on TV was talking about some studies of homosexual chimpanzees, and had found the (originally surprising) conclusion that usually the homosexual ones tended to be the strongest ones (especially among females). It was surprising for biologists because they thought that the strongest ones would naturally want to be the reproducers and would easily win the fights for it.
>Well, you never know, this data might have been modified to match a >pro-homosexual's line :)
LOL. Somehow I doubt it. Especially since this data is far from "pro-homosexual". It's just *not* anti-homosexual :)) .
>I still reckon the Internet is a pretty advanced technology :)
But is having technology a sign of true intelligence? Wouldn't being able to live in balance with your environment and not at the edge of destroying your own species a better sign? Are "primitive" human tribes which still use stone age technology actually less intelligent than us? But those are rather philosophical questions :)) .
>Do they have violence against other species who aren't especially happy >about their continued existence as something other than their lunch?
AFAIK the Bonobos have only few predators in their natural environment, and are left alone most of the time :) .
> or >just run and hide? And does it suggest that if we successfully forbade >people inclined to violence from reproducing, and had no violence >anywhere, that violence would become extinct in humanity, too?
Nope, as it is not how it works. When I said, "replacing violence with sex", I truly meant it. Look at chimpanzees: if one has something (a banana for instance) and another one wants it, what will happen? Usually a fight, with the strongest taking the prize. Among the Bonobos, what will rather happen is that the one longing for what the other has will *offer* itself to the other, and when it has successfully satisfied the other one, will take the prize as payment ;))) . So it's not just about extinguishing violence. If violence is here, it's because it fills a gap, a necessity (I don't know if you ever saw the anime Gundam Wing, but despite the fact that it's a cartoon, it is actually a full treatise on why humanity is a violent species, and what is necessary to get rid of the violence :) ). what you have to do is find something to replace it. The Bonobos did. Can we?
>If you don't mind not having the experiences, you could always go the >Matrix route and upload info to your brain... though I guess first we >need that technology :)
Not sure if I want a computer to mess up with my brains :))) . As it is, I find it enough already ;))) .
>Sounds like a plan :) (Except when you come back and mention something >that happened in your previous life and people decide you're insane and >lock you up,
Who says that I'd be stupid enough to talk about it? If I really remember my former life, I'll remember also how people are ;))) . I will just talk about what I know, not about how I got the info ;))) .
> or that you speak the word of god and you get an >(unwanted?) cult following :) )
Sounds like a nice plan this ;)))) . I could use a cult around me (if only because it provides free labour force ;))) ). Mmm... the Bonobo cult... sounds like a philosophy of life quite a few people would like to follow ;))))) .
