[As usual, doubled vowels are long vowels. Vowels have Latin assignments,
plus y. '^' follows a long vowel that attracts the stress accent out of its
usual place (more or less like Latin, but with a few twists). '`'
follows a stress-accented short vowel found in an "unusual" place.]
