I know that some at least still have the unvoiced aspirated stops...
although I have a friend called "Rekha" (I think that's how you spell
it) and I was trying to pronounce her name right (apparently not enough
aspiration on my part?) and eventually she said "It doesn't matter
anyway. A lot of native speakers don't pronounce it right anymore." I
forget which Indian language she speaks though...
