The Kadane call any and all types of spiritual beings _pol_. This
comes from the root "-ol", meaning "strength, power". They also
derive _nol_ "strength" and _genol_ "powerful" from this root.
The prefix _po-_ in Vogukadane denotes masculine beings, but also has a
connotation of anything forceful, powerful or in authority (sorry!),
so despite the prefix, _pol_ refers to gods of either gender.
