Well, in a lang that I started making up last summer, but now hate,
there were two ways of forming a noun from a root. The first was a
"concrete" or "normal" noun, the second was more abstract. So, for
example, the root meaning something to the effect of "happy" would yield
"happiness" or "joy" for the concrete noun but "bliss" or something like
that for the abstract noun (I always interpret bliss as something
virtually unachievable, but happiness is much more tangible and
"real"). So, my word for god, or deity (none of the people who speak
any of my languages believe in a god) was the abstract form of the root
which yielded king/queen in the concrete form.
In Nevok=E1nyi, I just made up a word for "god", which could mean either
deity or The One God, or whatever. As I said, I don't really need to
make a distinction as even though my concultures are very
underdeveloped, none of them have gods or religion of any kind
(improbable, I know, but it's most likely because neither do I, at least
nothing to speak of).
