/ij/ -> /ej/ is a common change in the Midlands Dialect, especially at the
end of words: happy /'h&pij/ -> /'&p pej/. Also /aj/ tends toward /oj/: I'm
happy /ajm 'h&pij/ -> /ojm '&p pej/.
