Hm. There are a number of non-Guinnes-like UK/Irish beers that are not
bubbly, but they are of the dark variety, and far from the same taste as the
familiar European or American lagers/pilsners. Also, the mass-market kinds
are generally bubblier than than the less widespread kinds. I don't know how
easy they'd be to get outside of the UK. Certainly in my travels in France
and Holland, I have only found the mass-market kinds, although I wasn't
looking very hard. I'd personally recommend trying at least two different
brews, but wouldn't advise massive life upheaval to do so.
