The rest of the world still calls it World War II and the war is
basically the same.  The Nowans call it the Second Pacific War, the
first being fought in the 1920's.  In my WW 2, the Japanese
sieze a western chunk of Pan in early 1942, after bombing Pearl Harbor
and seizing S.E. Asia.  Nowapan throws them out by the end of 1943,
fights more or less alongside the Americans in the Pacific (mostly
less, it gets complicated), and then invades Hokkaido on the night of
April 13, 1945 (I have a timeline too!).  They are poised to invade
northern Honshu when the USA drops the bombs and Japan surrenders
as per the real world.
