Yeah, I hear it quite often. I think I read somewhere that there was
a sound change in quite a lot of American dialects, mostly urban I
think, such that s --> S / _tr, which later spilled over in other words
formerly beginning with /s/ and a stop consonant, usually also with an
/r/ (so: /sp/ might have gone to /Sp/ by some weird analogy with this
rule).
