Hope it's not too techish, its quite simple, actually: in case you
already have a subtitle file in .srt format, it is simply editing a
text file with your favorite text editor. If the video file is called
the same as the .srt (except for the file extention, of course), a
media player (mplayer, vlc, xine) will automatically find and display
the subtitles.
I was not thinking about starting from scratch, because that would
mean to find the time stamps for showing the subtitles yourself --
that'd be a lot of tedious work. So I'd search for a subtitle file,
e.g. in English, open it with a text editor, and change the texts.
That's all.
Of course, for graphical display, more work would be needed.
Actually, I don't know how to make graphical subtitles, so the above
is limited to Unicode.
