I know there _is_ a conhistory to Meghean writing - I've just not much invented
it yet!
I do know that the letter transliterated as 'h', which now serves as an
orthographic oddjobman, variously indicating fricativization, hiatus, /j/ and
zero*, originally indicated a central vowel, presumably [i\] or [@].
* And sometimes it indicates things that aren't actually there. Eg, _nehes_ "by
me" is usually pronounced [nes], despite having an 'h' thrown in, that
according to the rules forces [ne.es]. Mercifully, the spelling _nes_ is also
found. Does Maggel have anything of this sort?
