In internet Icelandic (we use the net alot over here - I think I read
somewhere we're the world's most connected), there's lots of abbreviations
to the orthography, which is kind of bulky and conservative; but not
abbreviations like AFAIK and IMHO, not that I know of. Generally, caps and
irrelevant punctuation is dropped, as always; but also, there
are "contracted phrase spellings", representing actual colloquial
pronunciation: I generally see "akkuru?" for "af hverju?" (why?), for
example. But I don't chat much with other Icelanders, except my closest
friends. With them, I've invented other (kind of linguistics-oriented)
contractions, such as "eikkur" for "einhver" (somebody), conjugated
like "nokkur" (a certain).
Hmm, need to leave; happy conlanging :)
