'Spur' actually has an English cognate - spoor, which I've mainly seen referring to the trail (usually of scent) left by a fleeing animal, and which may be tracked by a dog (do Americans call such dogs 'smelling nose dogs'? :-) ). -- Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of Stephen Mulraney matter at or near the earth's surface relative ataltane@gmail.com to other matter; second, telling other people to do so. -- Bertrand Russell
