Re: Necessity of Conculture?

Hi, all,

For those who came in late, different conlangers make all kinds
of different choices about how much conculture to put behind their
languages. We've got "just the grammar ma'am" types, and we've got people
who are contemplating imaginary worlds more elaborate than "Islandia."

I'm more toward the "just the grammar" continuum; I sidestep
the issue of conculture by making my languages artificial or private even in
their fantasy contexts. For instance, my "Nu" begins with a fantasy that
it was invented 100 years ago by a very strange person (I won't give away
the story just yet.)
