| I'm curious, what tricks do you use in your private writing?

My degree is in geology (BA, University of South Florida). I had
three years of Latin in high school, and learned several of the Roman
variant vulgate scripts.
One of my little shorthands was the use of vulgate Latin letters for
various common minerals and poly-atomic ions. Vulgate "P" was peridote, "O"
was olivine, "F" was feldspar, "Q" was quartz, "C" was corundum, "P=" was
phosphate ion (PO^4), "C=" was carbonate, etc. Then I got a book on European
alchemical scripts, and that really got fun. My Igneous & Metamorphic
Petrology notes started to look like an old grimoire.

        Mike
