In Tokana, this would come out as follows
(è = e + acent ague, for those who can't see
diacritics):
itè tiesate
lohan toum em pai
le itè tomlai
tiefu haio kam
This comes out nice and compact, with five
syllables (two stressed and three unstressed)
per line. I like it quite a bit! A literal translation:
in the town
(the) voice of drums and pipes
but on the mountain
only (the) wordless-whisper of pines
Interlinear:
itè tiesat-e
the.DAT town-DAT
lohan toum em pai
voice drum and pipes
le itè tomla-i
but the.DAT mountain-DAT
tiefu haio kam
only whisper-without-words pine
Matt.
