Aidan Grey tai spac'urzin jawaradve.
Here is the Rhean vocab. Keep in mind that those hideous apostrophes you see
here are meant to represent haceks.
>1. crowd
fkivad (an odd little word which can also mean "all of it" or "everybody")
>There was a huge crowd in front of the building.
Mair riikom tok'uta fkivad anas'e.
in-front-of building-INST huge crowd exist-3sg.PAST
>2. lead
These aren't all the same word!
murz'dek (verb, "direct", "guide")
vrofk ("leash")
rasis (the metal, "lead")
>She led her dog into the field.
I polat o ürok murz'dios'.
into field-DAT OBJ dog(-ACC) lead-3sg.PAST
>Her dog was on a lead.
Tai ürok kni vrofkom as'e.
his/her dog (kni*) leash-INST be-3sg.PAST
*kni is a preposition meaning "attached to", "connected to", (and in an
abstract sense "related to,"). One wouldn't use |ot| which means "on" in the
sense of "upon, on top of".
>The pipes are made of lead.
Trupi rasismödec'igiz.
Pipes lead-composed-be-3pl
>3. ready
uzir, pregat, okutibza
>He's ready to go now.
Lud ver yuraku uzir c'e.

>4. slow
melun
>Snails are slow.
Sadafzluki melun c'ez.
snails slow be-3pl
>He runs slowly, and I bet he won't win the race.
Melunie haz'a, ki du haz'von mu gzamir gazruim.
slow-ADV run-3sg, and that race-ACC NOT win-3sg.FUT bet-1sg
(but in Rhean this "I bet" suggests an actual wager)
>5. rent
strapa
>I have to pay rent on the 5th of every month.
Paigrot k'ok'em niir strapan marbak fadim.
every-month fifth day rent-ACC pay must-1sg
>6. popularity
narokriosta
>This was just a popularity contest.
Tor narokriostani sarivnud zar as'e.
this popularity-related contest only be-3sg.PAST
>7. -ion
>two parts here: first, how are verbal nouns formed?
There are a few different suffixes, depending on the type of verb. Often a
verb will be left in the infinitive and used as a noun. I'll try and think
of some way of explaining the difference, someday.
act > action, move > motion, see > vision.
herak > herut , diz'enak > diz'enut, mirek > miribzad
miribzad is mir.ibza + -ad, meaning "all of that which is seen", or "one's
vision." To use the "verbal noun" construction as I did with the other two
would make "miro", meaning "sight, the sight of something, an instance of
visual contact."
>second, the sentence:
Lakk'em, palbhed: :)
>His action was hasty.
Tai herut wirzabza.
his action rush-PASS
>8. addition
jamak ("to add")
(Here is an example of where I would use the infinitive instead.)
>Even the addition of an extra student increased class sizes beyond
>tolerable limits.
(adding even one extra student...)
K'okyan adin napranok bile jamak o staladir oonostan k'aal ükicakar bözim
agdag'ais'.
additional one student only add-INF OBJ class-PL.GEN size-PL.ACC beyond
tolerable limit-PL.INST increase-3sg.PAST
>9. hat
s'apot
>Today is a say-something hat day!
Pilonk "dirkuin-zdua" s'apota niir!
today "something-ACC-say" hat-GEN day!
(copula omitted)
>10. pack
different words again:
fketrek (verb, "pack up")
mis'k ("bag", "backpack")
>I need to pack for my trip.
Ver ipuku fketrek fadim.
for trip-DAT pack-INF must-1sg
>The pack she wore on the trip was way too heavy.
Z'dam ipukom fikrios'na mis'k skijie taz'ol as'e.
during trip-INST wore-3sg.PAST-rel pack too-ADV heavy be-3sg.PAST
