One of the first things I did when I started conlanging seriously was to draw up a big chart of all Khangathyagon's descendants and their relationships to each other, on both sides of a big brown envelope. I used mostly external names on this, as I was thinking up concepts for languages at the time. The external names were mainly based on the cultures I envisioned speaking them. I must have come up with at least twenty possible languages or language families in one brainstorming session. Obviously, I couldn't think of internal names for that many languages all at once. Pete
