In the Arabic of the Gulf States (Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait etc.) the letter 'qaf'
is pronounced and often transcribed as /g/.
eg. 'Cairo is beautiful':
/el qahira gamiila/ (Egyptian Arabic)
/al gahira dZamiila/ (Gulf Arabic)
