Yup. I remember when I came up with this solution. It was
back in August 1999 [Oh, those were the days... :) ].
[i:rk], it was Jennifer Barefoot, Matt Pearson and Christophe
Grandsire who lead me in the right direction.
The idea is that all "emotional" verbs and verbs which
take an Experiencer subject mark their "subjects" with
PAT and their "object" with ablative. Since ABL is
basically SOURCE, this works fine if you look at it
metaphorically.
"I.EXPERIENCER saw the bird.SOURCE" (non-control)
"I.AGT looked at the bird.PAT" (control)
So "I:EXP love you:ABL" might be thought of as "I experience
love coming from you." :)
