Out of curiosity, I searched Google for "baai" (written バアイ) and
"ba:i" (written バーイ). "Baai" is normally written in kanji (場合), but
Google found 10,900 instances of "baai" in katakana (バアイ), and 16,500
instances of "ba:i" (11,200 in the word "baiba:i" バイバーイ).
