Ah, I see!

I've also done both or even something in between: read a paragraph or
two, make lists of words I need, create the words, then translate the
paragraphs and start the next paragraph(s).

I find listing all the words first easier, otherwise I tend to revise
the vocab many times when other, related words pop up that I oversaw.
With a longer list, I think I pay more attention to thorough lexicon
design than for single words.
