Amusing anecdote from a friend of mine: She was chatting with someone and mentioned that she was listening to Indian music (Indian in the sense of "from India"), and the other person, thinking to "correct" her said "Native American", so she replied. "Okay, I'm listening to some Native American music from INDIA". He kind of quieted after that point. :-)

I've heard "Native American" used for the native peoples of Latin America.

Well, I meant, if the term meant what it logically implies. :-)

When people ask me my nationality, I usually say "American. If you mean my ancestry, mixed German, English, Scottish, and most likely some other stuff." -- "There's no such thing as 'cool'. Everyone's just a big dork or nerd, you just have to find people who are dorky the same way you are." - overheard ICQ: 18656696 AIM Screen-Name: NikTaylor42
