Between Bali and Lompok. In fact, Wallace discovered it first there,
and only later discovered its northward extension to between Borneo
and Sulawesi.
This is the same Wallace, BTW, who one day came up with the idea that the
origin of species arose through descent with modification as governed
by natural selection, wrote a paper on it, and sent it to a well-known
and respected naturalist in Britain -- Charles Darwin. Darwin quickly
wrote a paper summarizing his work of the past twenty years, and they
were published in the same issue of the same journal. But in the end it
was Darwin who wrote the book and got most of the credit.

To say that Bilbo's breath was taken away is no description at all. There
are no words left to express his staggerment, since Men changed the language
that they learned of elves in the days when all the world was wonderful.
