Thanks. But it's _Lombok_ (one doesn't often get a chance to correct you
:-)) Lompoc was the setting of one of W.C.Fields' movies ("The Bank Dick"
IIRC-- in which he was Edgar Sousé, note the accent aigu), home of the New
Old Lompoc House hotel and the Black Pussycat Cafe.
In fact, Wallace discovered it first there,

I was going to look that up, as I had the impression Sulawesi was not
included, or was transitional at best(there is just one species of marsupial
there)
And yes, Darwin did poor Wallace dirt.........
