I feel the exact opposite. I think that the mixing of kana and kanji are very esthetically pleasing. Pure kanji look too "heavy", while pure kana looks too "light". Slightly OT: I found a Japanese-English New Testament. The mixing of systems is especially obvious when you look at things like the genealogy of Jesus.
