Mientres vs Mientras ??

Then again, I think I've heard mientres as well - or
read it! It's been many years since I needed to use
Spanish, now that I'm in Asia, but I think mientras is
now the correct Spanish whereas mientres is either
antiquated or slang Spanish (don't recall which).
Anyone out there know?
