Re: deeply embedded VSO nightmare

Hi,
My two pence:

Welsh, to my limited knowledge, usually uses clauses to resolve
ambiguity. (correct me!)

I saw a woman (who) was walking.

Gwelais i wraig a roedd yn cerdded

Saw-pret.1sg. I woman rel.part. was in walking (the latter is a common
construction in modenr Welsh)

But

I saw a woman (while I was) walking

Wrth cerdded gwelais i wraig
or
Tra y roedd i'n cerdded, gwelais i wraig

While walking see-pret.1sg. I woman

I think the whole problem is a bit too too English-centred. Russian, for
example, would use two completely different vebr forms in this case.

Bye,
Pavel
